Name: Zelda Spellman
Canon: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Canon point: Post 4.08
Age: 500+
History: Wiki Link
Personality:
Determined - Once Zelda sets her mind, good luck changing it. Is it any wonder Sabrina's stubbornness so frustrated her, being so like her own? At times, this can be detrimental, extreme stubbornness always is, but it also gets things done. Zelda can take charge, pull it together, even in the darkest of times. Throughout the series, with shift after shift in deities, the foundation of her own deep-set religion shaken, Zelda held her coven together through sheer force of will. That's the brand of leadership she brings to the table.
Confident - Zelda is confident, nearly to a fault. She's capable and intelligent, and she knows it. She'll make sure everyone else knows it, as well. She wears what she likes and does what she likes and carries herself with authority. Zelda walks in like she owns the room. When she marries Blackwood, for power rather than love, she doesn’t expect it to go so badly because she believes she can manage him. She believes she already holds some of that power, herself. In fact, Zelda rarely expects her own plans to go wrong. She expects everyone else to fail. She expects to succeed. Zelda only knows how to come out ahead. Anything else would be a display of weakness, and she's very keen on not showing any of that.
Protective - Despite all her outer harshness, at her core, Zelda is a protector. She holds her coven together, like tending a flock. And she would kill for her family as easily as she would die for them. It is very much like the sibling who torments her sister at every opportunity, but wouldn’t stand for anyone else to do so. Zelda doesn’t express her love often or especially openly, but there’s nothing she wouldn’t do to defend her family when it comes down to it. That being said, it isn’t only her family and her coven. While humans aren’t particularly significant to her life, she also stands with her family (or attempts to) to protect the humans of Greendale. And she doesn’t have to be persuaded to do so. She does it because she feels it's right.
Temper - Zelda has a temper, one that is very easily set off. She lashes out when she's angry or upset or hurt or if her vulnerable side is prodded. And she can be downright vicious. She's mean. Intentionally so. And she holds a grudge. Just have a look at her wall of cursed shoes.
Co-dependent - Zelda projects strength and confidence and independence, all in a bid to mask her vulnerable side, what she views as weakness. But the truth is, she's suffocating lonely and terribly co-dependent. She practically falls apart when Hilda moves out of the house after marrying. She doesn’t quite know how to function without her. Her family and her coven are her structure, her support. She rejects the idea that she needs anyone but herself, but she needs people to lean on and coexist with.
Pride - Zelda can be very prideful. This is evident in her concern over appearances, how desperate she is to maintain standing within the coven, keep her family's status. While she cares little about what people think of her, personally, she wants to be seen as a worthy member of the community, respected by her coven, and known to be devoted in her worship. She wants acknowledgment and recognition for her strength and leadership. But her pride also often gets in the way, and it can further rifts in her relationships. It often means she has a hard time admitting her mistakes or acknowledging her faults. It's rare to hear Zelda apologize. She is more likely to double down insisting her way is the only way or the proper way. Or she might give a backhanded compliment or an offhanded thank you, as though it's only an afterthought. Even with those she loves most, especially her family. Sabrina and Hilda are often on the receiving end of the more negative side of Zelda's pride. For instance, lashing out at Hilda when she announces her engagement because she doesn't want to admit that she doesn't want her to leave, that she doesn't want to be alone. Or trying to push Sabrina into her Dark Baptism by force because she doesn't want her to know that her father had already signed her soul over to the Dark Lord.
Powers/Abilities: Here is a wiki link for some examples of what CAoS witches are capable of: Witch Spells & Rituals.
Zelda is a powerful witch, but alone, she shouldn't be capable of anything game-breaking, and when I say this list may not cover everything that's simply because for abilities like spellcasting, it's impossible to list every spell!
》Spellcasting -
-- Summoning (Ability to summon others to her/a location. Usually demons or other witches.)》Teleportation/Bi-Location (Technically also a spell, but separated out because of the type of spell it is. Allows her to move from one location to another, along with whoever she's touching/holding onto. Obviously, this won't allow her to escape the confines of the game environment.)
-- Scrying (Not looking into the future in this context, but using a mirror to look in on a place/speak through.)
-- Warding/Enchantments/Hexes (Basically what they say on the tin.)
-- Glamour (Ability to mask the truth of what someone is seeing. Kind of like a mirage? Not quite a full blown hallucination.)
-- Binding (Holding someone in place.)
-- Pyrokinesis (Ability to manipulate fire.)
-- Telekinesis (Ability to move objects with only her mind.)
-- Poppet Puppetry (This is how I class any spell that requires use of a poppet. For instance, the earworm spell.)
There are a few others here, but that should cover the heavy hitters. Anything else should be in the wiki, I believe.
》Longevity (Zelda is very long-lived, she ages incredibly slowly and doesn’t really get ill. She can be injured and killed, however.)
Some spells require words, others only gestures or a thought. Some she can't do alone. Some require props, like a poppet. While Zelda has no issue with using her magic on people, I'll always ask first, and she has a permissions post in her journal.
